We are looking for a meticulous and dedicated Disrepair Surveyor to join a well known housing association.

Description

  • Conduct Property Inspections – Assess residential properties for disrepair, identifying defects, safety hazards, and areas of non-compliance.
  • Legal Disrepair Case Management – Investigate claims, gather evidence, and provide detailed reports for use in legal proceedings.
  • Damp & Mould Assessments – Diagnose damp, condensation, and mould issues using appropriate testing methods and recommend remediation strategies.
  • Prepare Detailed Reports – Produce comprehensive reports outlining findings, proposed remedial works, and compliance with housing regulations.
  • Schedule & Oversee Repairs – Specify required works, liaise with contractors, and ensure repairs are completed to the required standard.
  • Tenant & Stakeholder Liaison – Communicate with tenants, landlords, legal representatives, and housing officers to resolve disrepair issues.
  • Ensure Compliance – Ensure all inspections and repair works align with relevant legislation, including the Landlord & Tenant Act 1985, Homes (Fitness for Human Habitation) Act 2018, and CDM Regulations.
  • Joint Surveys with Opposing Surveyors – Attend joint inspections with claimant surveyors and assist in preparing Scott Schedules.
  • Monitor & Audit Repairs – Conduct post-inspections to ensure remedial works have been carried out effectively and meet required standards.
  • Support Legal Proceedings – Provide expert input for legal cases, including producing witness statements and attending court if required.
  • Maintain Accurate Records – Keep detailed records of all inspections, correspondence, and actions taken for audit and legal purposes.

Profile

A successful Stock Condition Surveyor should have:

  • A degree in Building Surveying or a similar field.
  • In-depth knowledge of building construction, building standards, and health and safety regulations.
  • Excellent attention to detail and reporting skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills for liaising with team members and external parties.
  • The ability to prioritise tasks effectively.
  • A commitment to contributing positively to the not-for-profit sector.
